Toning
Toning of your B&W prints is done either for archival permanence or to change the overall color and tonal range of the print. We offer several toners to choose from that work well on both RC and Fiber Based prints. When ordering a toned print, please indicate the degree of toning you would prefer (please call if you have any questions on toners).
Selenium Toner:
This toner bonds to the silver in the print to create a selenium/silver print. Depending on paper and dilution it will give a slight cooling effect all the way up to a deep 'eggplant' coloration. This toner is most often used as an archival preservative for prints at a dilution that does not affect the tonality or color of the image.
Sepia Toner:
This bleach and redevelop toner offers rich sepia (yellow to brown) tones on Fiber Based papers and will also work well on RC papers. If you want a print that looks 'old fashioned', this is the toner for you.
Brown Toner:
Much like Sepia toner, Brown Toner will warm up an image slightly or if toned more heavily change the image to a very warm brown color. It works with RC papers but gives its best results with Fiber Based papers.
PolyToner:
Kodak's PolyToner is used in various dilutions that will give your print a slight warming effect all the way up to deep reddish browns. It works best with Fiber Based papers.
