Photographic Traditions of Maine offers high quality custom processing of all B&W films. Whether you are shooting 35mm or large format, we treat your film as if it were our own. We process all films in your choice of developer. If you do not have a favorite developer, we will process your film in the industry standard D-76 (DDX) developer (T-Max Developer for T-Max films). All film is archivally processed and washed, air dried in a dust free environment, and placed in archival negative sleeves. Contact printing is also available.

Developers
Beyond standard processing we will Push/Pull process your film or develop your film in one of our specialty developers. If you have a particular formula or time for processing your film we can accommodate that as well. If you need help in choosing the best developer for your images, see our list of common developers below or give us a call and we can make suggestions.

Kodak T-Max Developer: Specifically designed for use with T-Max films, this developer gives excellent tonal separation and fine grain. This developer also works well with Ilford Delta Films.

Kodak D-76: The industry standard in film developer for years, D-76 works best with standard films such as Tri-X or HP5+. It offers good Push/Pull properties, fine grain, and excellent acutance.

HC-110: This high-energy developer works well with most films and allows for excellent Push/Pull development with good grain structure and sharpness without loss of film speed.

PMK Pyro formula: Developed by Gordon Hutchins, this developer offers excellent grain characteristics, unsurpassed edge sharpness, and a high latitude for Push/Pull processing. When combined with modern multi-grade papers, it is self-masking in the highlight areas and gives incredible separation in tones. This developer also works well for Platinum/Palladium contact printing from a large format negative.

For Push/Pull processing or specialty developers, add 25% per roll or sheet of film.
